Ok, I know that this review is kind of late, but it's totally worth it! I saw Peter Jackson's King Kong on Christmas Eve and man! What a ride! If you've seen the first version (because there were 3 that were made, including this one) you would know that this movie is about a beautiful young actress named Ann Darrow, who is picked up off the street by a film director named Carl Denham, who is at end of his rope as he struggles to make well........a movie that will spark the interest of........the world. So he amazingly gathers a crew to a place he only knows the location of........Skull Island, with an ancient map he acquired by chance.
To write the script for this "major" motion picture, he hires Jack Driscoll (whom which Ann is a big fan of hint hint) who is a friend of Denham's. Needless to say, they find the small island and uncover a BIG secret. There's a wall surrounding the entire island!? To keep us out? Or to keep something in? So, they go aboard and encounter the very many, very HOSTILE lifeforms that live on the island, and one life-form that will change their lives forever! When the crew gets on the island, it seems deserted, but they see this little native, then another, then 5 more. Then the whole tribe reveals themselves and attacks in rage with their red eyes and razor sharp weapons.
They see Ann and are amazed at her golden hair. She is to be...the bride of Kong! So that night when Denham, Jack and Ann (and the rest of the survivors) are sleepless through out the silent ship, the menacing islanders sneak aboard and kidnap Miss Darrow. So, now its up to the few men able to fight, or even stand, to search the entire island to get their movie star back from the clutches of a 30ft tall gorilla.
Ok, so this movie was so intense that it had me on the edge of my seat almost the entire film. Except for the beginning, it takes them quite a while to get on the island, but once they get there your thinking "all right, here we go!" From right there its a non-stop roller coaster, and man are there a lot of close calls! Ann comes so close to getting eaten by so many things, so many times! Its definitely a thriller and is NOT recommended for younger children! Did you hear how I described the natives? There is really disturbing images in there. My 7 year old brother was crying! On the other hand, if you really want them to see this movie, you should show them the original, its a straight up classic!
Well they'll do it for me this session, so what're you waiting for!! Go see it!
